WHY WE RACE

We are thrilled to announce that, for the second year in a row, we will be donating all profits directly to The Move for Jenn Foundation. This foundation offers grants in the form of activewear prosthetics to individuals who have lost a limb to sarcoma or other affiliated diseases. Since these sports prosthetics are not considered medically necessary by most insurance companies, this foundation acts as a bridge, enabling amputees to return to the physical activities they enjoyed prior to amputation. We are proud to support such a noble (and NC local!) cause and hope that this initiative will make a positive difference in someone’s life.

THE COURSE - Wake Med Course Map

The trail at Wake Med Soccer Park has a running surface with grass and gravel and follows a partially shaded trail through a wooded area. A water station will be at the halfway point. The 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 8:00am and the 5k starts at 8:30am. This is a sanctioned USA Track & Field event with chip timing provided. See map here.

FAQ

Is there a early packet pick up?
No. Packet and race numbers will be available starting 7:15am Saturday morning.

Can I run with headphones?
Yes, though it is recommended that you are aware of your surroundings for your own safety.

Do I need any water?
We have a water stop and extra water bottles for runners.  We recommend you bring extra water for you and your guests to make sure you are comfortable and hydrated. We have some shade structures as well.

Can I use a stroller, walker or wheel chair?
Yes. The course, however, is not paved. It is graded grass and gravel/dirt with mild elevation changes. We have had runners push strollers in the past. This is up to your judgment.

What happens in the event of inclement weather?
The race will continue in the event of rain.
Race Management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to unfavorable conditions and will notify attendees in person, via email, or via our race website. Registration fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation due to “Acts of God”.
