Bakari Smith’s passion for Orthotics and Prosthetics stems from his love of biomechanics, innovation, and helping others achieve their highest level of function. He discovered early in his career that he is most fulfilled in environments that encourage critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and meaningful patient relationships. Bakari is driven by the opportunity to develop individualized solutions that improve mobility and quality of life.

Bakari is a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist specializing in elevated vacuum suspension systems for lower limb prosthetic solutions and dynamic orthoses for the treatment of neurological conditions. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Master of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics from Baylor College of Medicine. During his residency, he completed rotations at leading clinical sites across the country, gaining experience with diverse patient populations and advanced technologies that shaped his patient-centered approach to care.

Outside of the clinic, Bakari enjoys traveling the world and has visited more than 20 countries. He also enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, playing sports, and exploring nature with family and friends. He currently resides in Clayton, North Carolina, with his wife and daughter.
